Timeline Adjustments and Project Updates

First off, we want to address the timeline of the project. Our original timeline had us planning to ship product in November. When we first started this process we thought this was an achievable timeframe as we had already built a working prototype board. However, as we have progressed through the development of the product with our engineering partner, we are realizing that this timeframe was a little "aggressive". As a new organization this is our first time building a production ready product from start to finish. Taking a prototype proof of concept and converting it to a production ready product was a little more daunting than we expected at the beginning.

We have encountered some unexpected delays, as well as unforeseen issues around bringing this product to market. Fortunately, we are still making great progress and the engineering/design phase and the pre-production board should be complete in the next couple weeks. We are really excited about this because once this phase is complete we get to order our first run of pre-prod physical hardware and start testing the physical device. This milestone will bring pictures of the physical hardware as well as pictures of the software and firmware design.

We appreciate everyone's patience as we push forward to making this dream become a reality.

Current Timeline and Major milestones

  • PCB Layout completed and ordering of Pre-Production boards - Early November
  • Receive Pre-Production boards - Early/Mid December
  • Pre-Production board and firmware testing - December-January
  • Assuming no major issues in pre production board - Manufacturing phase to begin late January early February.

1. Display Development

  • After some firmware testing, the display used in the original prototype was determined to have limited driver support on newer revisions of Linux.
  • We’ve decided to go with a new, higher-quality (and more expensive) display to ensure the best possible user experience.
  • Minor hardware adjustments needed (pin layout).

2. PCB & Electronics Progress

  • Schematics: 99% complete as of 10/23 — missing some discrete components in some sections (resistors, capacitors, etc).
  • RF System Antenna's:
    • 315 MHz: ANT1204F002R0315A
    • 433 / 868 / 915 MHz: ACR1504I3
  • Power System:
    • USB-C charging, fuel gauge, and MCU-based sequencing complete.
    • 3.3V cutoff retained for battery longevity

3. Mechanical / Enclosure Development

  • Mechanical and electrical coordination ongoing to synchronize footprints and mounting holes.

4. Firmware & Feature Scope

  • Firmware, driver and feature testing continues with dev boards.
  • Waiting on pre-production board (early/mid December) for production ready firmware testing.
